Updated Address Validations in Line with IRAS

Payroll is updating address validations to be in line with IRAS validations, so users do not get an error when they file taxes with IRAS during tax season (Jan-Mar).

Currently, the payroll platform for SG supports 3 types of address and the updated validations will be as follows:

Local Address

  • “residential block/house no” cannot be blank AND has 10 alphanumeric character limit
  • “residential street name” cannot be blank AND has 32 alphanumeric character limit
  • “residential level number” cannot be blank AND has 3 alphanumeric character limit
  • “residential unit number” cannot be blank AND has 5 alphanumeric character limit
  • “residential postcode” cannot be blank AND cannot be “000000” or “999999” AND has 6 alphanumeric character limit

Foreign address and/or Local C/O Address

  • “residential address line 1” cannot be blank AND has 30 alphanumeric character limit
  • “residential address line 2” must be blank when “residential address line 1” is blank AND has 30 alphanumeric character limit
  • “residential address line 3” must be blank when “residential address line 2” is blank AND has 30 alphanumeric character limit
  • “residential postalcode” cannot be blank AND cannot be “000000” or “999999” AND has 6 alphanumeric character limit

Further, in all address fields, payroll will not be accepting the following special characters:

  • %
  • $
  • ;
  • *
