Introducing Leave Reversals for NZ businesses

What's changing?

Employment Hero Payroll is introducing Leave Reversals for NZ businesses. This feature gives payroll admins a guided, auditable way to reverse a specific paid leave day directly within an open pay run — without needing to manually craft a pay adjustment or link it to the original leave record.
Why this matters for your clients

Until now, NZ payroll admins had no system-supported way to reverse a specific paid leave day. A manual pay adjustment had to be entered with no link to the original leave date or amount, creating calculation errors, gaps in the audit trail, and compliance risk.

With this feature, reversals are handled through a structured flow that ties directly to the original leave record, updates the pay run automatically, and keeps a complete audit history.

What your clients can do

• Access a new "Reverse leave by date" action from the employee actions menu within an open pay run.
• Select the specific leave date to reverse, with a preview of the exact gross amount before confirming.
• Apply the reversal in one guided flow — the platform handles the negative adjustment and restores the leave balance automatically.
• View a full audit trail: the original leave request is marked "Reversed" in leave history, and a negative line item appears in the pay run.
