Extension of SOCSO Invalidity Scheme to Foreign Workers

Legislation
Malaysia

From 1 July 2024, the employer is required to make the contribution payment for employer’s share and foreign worker’s share as follows.

Employment Injury Scheme & Invalidity Scheme:

  • For foreign workers who first join PERKESO or contribute for the first time under the age of 55

Employment Injury Scheme:

  • For foreign workers who have reached 55 years old when first joining PERKESO, or
  • For foreign workers who have reached 60 years old and are still working.

Essentially, from 1 July 2024, the employer is required to contribute SOCSO for foreign workers the same as Malaysians or Permanent Residents.

When updating an employee’s statutory details in their profile, if the Residence Type is Non-Malaysian, SOCSO will have the below options similar to Malaysians or Permanent Residents:

  • Not applicable
  • Employment Injury and Invalidity Scheme
  • Employment Injury Scheme
