Additional feature for Multi PAYE schemes- the ability to save PAYE scheme specific accounts within Chart of Accounts

UK

Available from 23 March, 2026

We have introduced a new feature for UK Payroll users with multiple PAYE schemes: the ability to configure PAYE Scheme Specific Accounts within the Chart of Accounts (CoA).

Previously, users with multiple schemes could not map unique accounts to each scheme, requiring manual journal splits when posting data to external accounting software. This update automates that process by allowing scheme-specific mappings for file-based exports.

Key details for partners:

  • Target Audience: UK Payroll users who have Multi PAYE enabled and use file-based or detailed file-based exports.
  • New CoA Section: A dedicated PAYE Scheme Specific Accounts section is now visible on the Chart of Accounts page.
  • Automated Journal Splits: Users can now enable a Split by PAYE scheme setting for primary accounts (such as default accounts and pay categories) to ensure accurate journal entries per scheme.
  • Operational Restriction: Setting up PAYE scheme-specific accounts will make Location-specific accounts unavailable for that business to prevent mapping conflicts.

This change reduces the administrative burden and manual work required for UK businesses managing multiple entities. By allowing direct account mapping at the scheme level, we ensure that payroll journals match the business’s external accounting structure automatically upon export.
